    Position Overview

    GAMVP is currently seeking personable and energetic individuals with a strong passion to participate in the democratic process through non-partisan voter registration and voter turnout work with a focus on engaging Muslim communities. Volunteer Coordinators (Field) are an integral part of the work we do, as our organization is built on direct voter contact. The ideal candidate is well-organized, a self starter, and must be comfortable with working in diverse communities. Prior experience in canvassing, phone banking, and text banking is preferred but not required; training and mentorship will be provided on the job.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Support GAMVP’s voter engagement program by engaging voters around Get Out the Vote and voter education efforts in primarily Muslim-centered spaces in assigned counties in Georgia

    • Recruit and manage a team of volunteers who will lead GOTV efforts by knocking on doors, phone banking, and text banking

    • Source and recruit volunteers through various techniques (databases, e-mail, social media, etc.)

    • Lead volunteers by example by joining them in door knocking, phone banking, and text banking

    • Complete in-person shifts in a timely, orderly fashion

    • Maintain an accurate and reliable data trail, including detailed records of volunteers’ information and assignments

    • Communicate all relevant information to volunteers and provide timely responses to the Field Director

    • Learn and navigate organizing tools and voter databases (VAN, GetThru, Thrutext, etc.)

    • Other duties as assigned

    Desired Skills, Abilities, and Experiences:

    • Must be at least 18 years of age, eligible to work in the United States, and have valid identification

    • Licensed driver with insurance and own transportation, clean driving record, and willingness to travel throughout Georgia. Mileage reimbursement is available

    • Ability to hold conversations and build a team of volunteers

    • Outstanding time management skills with an ability to prioritize activities and responsibilities effectively under pressure and changing political dynamics

    • Experience working with Muslim communities and is knowledgeable about popular community spaces in Georgia

    • Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage details, work independently, and follow through with minimal direct supervision

    • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, sometimes in the direct sun

    • Ability to learn and use various tech and organizing tools

    • Additional language skills are preferred, but not required

    • A strong commitment to diversity, equity, and social justice

    • Personally committed to advancing GAMVP’s values, mission, and programs

    Position Type and Salary:

    Field Organizer is a temporary part-time position based in Georgia with a salary of $20/hour. Reimbursement/stipend will be provided for gas costs.
