Mobilize 4 Muslims: Summer Organizing School with GAMVP 2024

WHO: Salaam! Georgia Muslim Voter Project is excited to announce our second annual Mobilize 4 Muslims: Summer Organizing School! GAMVP is a non-partisan, non-profit organization dedicated to elevating the Muslim voice through the power of civic engagement and voter registration. We stand for equal representation & our approach is to engage with community members where they are most comfortable and in the driver seat. The community shapes GAMVP as GAMVP shapes its community.

WHAT: The Mobilize 4 Muslims: Summer Organizing School will enrich our Georgia Muslim cohort members with organizing strategies for civic campaigns that liberate our communities. Participants will leave with new skill sets, frameworks, and wisdom from Muslim American activists to go forth and actualize civic change. Each session will deliver unique lessons on identity and leadership development through trainings, field trips, assignments, guest panels, and more! We are unlocking doors to movement building by ensuring that cohort members understand how to identify their intersectional identities, self-interest in activating their communities, as well as the building blocks of campaign organizing. Guest speakers will teach students about mobilizing their networks through digital campaigns and being intentional about outreaching to those marginalized. Students will also receive Muslim-community specific organizing training, hear from trailblazing organizers from the state and across the country, and present group campaigns for the civic activation of Georgia Muslims.

WHY: Now more than ever, it is incredibly important that our community is developing the leaders we need to represent our interests. In order for us to create the futures we work and pray for, it is vital that we do everything in our power to ensure we get there. How does that happen? By community development, political education, and grassroots organizing, all of which starts with YOU making a decision -- a commitment -- to making a change in your community. WHEN: This year, the program will be spread across the span of one month. We will meet for 1-2 hours on Wednesdays at 6:30pm and Sundays at 11:30am from Wednesday, July 10, 2024 to Sunday, August 4th, 2024. Applicants must be available in-person for all dates listed below! Halal refreshments will be provided during each session. (Dietary restrictions, prayer accommodations, and other details will be requested upon acceptance into the program.) Finally, we are excited to be offering a $100 stipend to each participant who completes the program.

WHERE: Most events will be held at The Hub (8302 Dunwoody Place, Sandy Springs, GA 30350), though we will occasionally be meeting in other spaces around the Metro-Atlanta area. While it is important that you have transportation, do not let that deter you from applying.
